ASCII Codes in Excel

The numerical value, or order, of ASCII codes. There are 128 standard ASCII characters, numbered from 0 to 127. Extended ASCII adds more 128 values and goes to 255. The numbers are generally expressed in decimal or in hexadecimal.

ASCII control codes

The table displays the first 31 characters’ codes in ASCII, which are non-printing control codes. Codes were originally intended to control devices, and are no longer used, but they will be used in the carriage return (13), line feed (10), and tab (9).
